WVFRW 39th Biennial

The West Virginia Federation of Republican Women comprised of 10 clubs throughout West Virginia held its 39th Biennial in Mineral Wells, hosted by the Pleasants County Republican Women. It's intersting that our State Federation is older than the National Federation by three years! Forty women from all over this great state traveled to make decisions, plans and resolutions to improve and positively impact our beautiful state beginning with our own towns and communities.

50% of West Virginia's clubs received recognition from the National Federation of Republican Women for activities and achievements accomplished since the last National Biennial. There are 4 levels-Platinum, Gold, Silver & Bronze. Putnam Co. RW=Gold Club Achievement Award; Gateway RW (Berkley, Jefferson & Morgan Counties) and Wood Co. RW=Silver Club Achievement Award; Fayette Co. RW & Huntington Cabell RW=Bronze Club Achievement Award. Our 2013 goal is that all clubs (100%) receive a club achievement award.

The 2011 Outstanding Caring For America Award went to Pleasants Co. RW for their work pertaining to House Bill 4593. They have spent much time and energy working with the young people in their county. This is a combination of the GED Option project and the Mentoring Program. 39th Biennial Convention-Rebuilding Trust, Honesty & Integrity


The Pleasants County Republican Women will host the 39th Biennial Convention for the WVFRW.

WHEN: Saturday, October 29, 2011
WHERE: Comfort Suites, Mineral Wells, WV
TIME: 9:00 a.m.

REGISTRATION: The registration fee is $35.00 per person. Make checks payable to Pleaseants Co. RW and mail to-Betty Bailey, 2179 Right French Creek Road, St. Marys, WV 26170. Registrations must be received by October 21, 2011.

HOTEL INFORMATION: Comfort Suites (304)489-9600. When making your reservations for Friday night, identify yourself as a member of the WVFRW in order to received the room rate of $77 + tax for a double room. This rate will be available until October 20, 2011.

FUNDRAISER: We are having a White Elepant Sale. We are asking everyone to bring something patriotic that you would like to donate for the fundraiser.

CONVENTION AGENDA: We will be electing officers for teh 2012-13 term. All candidates will be given 2 minutes to address the Convention body immediately following the report of the Nominating Committee and nominations from the floor, if any. We will address the Public Relations proposal on membership. Be prepared to vote on the proposed Bylaws submitted by the Bylaws Committee and approved by 2/3 vote of the Board of Directors.

LADY AMBASSADORS: If you would like to be a WVFRW Lady Ambassador, please send a donation of at least $50 to Gladys Lemley, WVFRW Treasurer, before October 21.

REMINDER: President Reports of 2 minutes each of your club's activities since April. We will acknowledge each local club's Woman of the Year.

Republican Women are leaders in our communities. Each club will present their community project on how they are making a difference in their community. Also, Club Presidents will have a two-minute report on your club's activities sin last Fall.

Republican Women's Day @ the Legislature

Republican Women traveled to our State Capital from all over West Virginia for "Republican Women's Day at the Legislature." Women from Boone, Cabell, Fayette, Harrison, Kanawha, Lincoln, Monongalia, Pleasants, Putnam, Wirt, and Wood all decked out in Red Jackets flooded the Capital to make a striking presence obvious to all who were present. Senator Donna Boley and her Secretary, Carolyn, were gracious hosts as usual. The day was full of legislative updates by our Republican Senators & House of Delegates, introduction and photo in the Senate Chamber, lunch in the Capital Cafeteria and greetings from Republican Gubernatorial Candidates. This is an annual event so mark you Calendar for President's Day next year and plan to attend!
