WVFRW Spring Board 2011


Go check your mailbox ladies, the Official Call for the Spring Board has been mailed to current members.

What: WVFRW Board of Directors dinner/meeting
When: Friday, April 29th
Where: Holiday Lodge Hotel & Conference Center Restuarant-Dory's Grill
Time: 5:30 p.m./7:30 p.m.

What: WVFRW Spring Board
When: Saturday, April 30th
Where: Holiday Lodge Hotel & Conference Center, 340 Oyler Avenue, Oak Hill, WV 25901. Rooms have been reserved at $70 + tax under "WVFRW" until April 15th at 304-465-0571.

Reservation fee is $35 payable to "FCRW" and mailed to Shirley Blackburn, 3667 Summerlee Road, Oak Hill, WV 25901 by April 20th.

If you would like to be a Lady Ambassador, send your minimum donation of $50 to WVFRW Treasurer, Gladys Lemley, 1106 16th Street, Vienna, WV 26105.

TARS (Teenage Republicans)across the nation will be attending the National Conference at our Nations Capitol this summer. Our Hurricane TARS needs your help. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated. Please mail donations to Mark Higginbotham, 1023 Martina Drive, Hurricane, WV 25526.

Republican Women are leaders in our communities. Each club will present their community project on how they are making a difference in their community. Also, Club Presidents will have a two-minute report on your club's activities sin last Fall.

Republican Women traveled to our State Capital from all over West Virginia for "Republican Women's Day at the Legislature." Women from Boone, Cabell, Fayette, Harrison, Kanawha, Lincoln, Monongalia, Pleasants, Putnam, Wirt, and Wood all decked out in Red Jackets flooded the Capital to make a striking presence obvious to all who were present. Senator Donna Boley and her Secretary, Carolyn, were gracious hosts as usual. The day was full of legislative updates by our Republican Senators & House of Delegates, introduction and photo in the Senate Chamber, lunch in the Capital Cafeteria and greetings from Republican Gubernatorial Candidates. This is an annual event so mark you Calendar for President's Day next year and plan to attend!

Calling all Republican Women in West Virginia! Tyler County Republican Women have graciously offered to host the 2010 Fall Board. It will be on Friday/Saturday, October 15th & 16th at the First Baptist Church, 506 Wells Street, Sistersville, WV. Registration is $40 (checks payable to TCRW). THEME: "Fall Into the Election & Harvest the Votes"

WVFRW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING: Friday, Oct. 15th following dinner at Quinet's Court Restuarant (6:00 p.m.)

LODGING: Amerihost Inn, New Martinsville, WV Contact Information 304-455-6100, reservations are held in the name of Janet Hadley. Room cost is $91.45, which includes sales and occupancy tax. Rooms are non-smoking with 2 double beds. Reservations dues by October 12th. Rooms will be released after this date.

PROJECT: Each club is to bring a pumpkin that is decorated, but you CANNOT carve it! Prizes awarded for 3rd, 2nd, 1st & "The Great Pumpkin Award."

WVFRW Spring Board 2010

The Republican Women of West Virginia gathered together April 23 & 24th at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites located in Barboursville, West Virginia. The "Garden Party" themed event was hosted by Huntington/Cabell Republican Women. The food was delicious both at breakfast and lunch. Several "Workshops for Growing" were offered, which included: How to Win Points & Influence Your Club, From RNC Point of View, New President-NFRW Club Achievement Report, The Advantage of Time, It it is to be... It is up to me, and By-laws, Robert's Rules of Order - Why?. 2010 Candidates present were introduced and given a few moments: Marty Gearheart for US House of Representatives, 3rd District, T-Anne See for WV House of Delegates, District 16 & Douglas Franklin for WV House of Delegates, District 15. Funds were raised from the silent auction of Garden Party items brought by the various clubs present. Door prized were also given by the host club as well as for the "Garden Hats" brought.
